When you're ready to start the process of inventing an idea, there are a few key steps to take. The first step is to consider what results you want to achieve with your invention. For example, if you enjoy doing your hobbies, why not create a product that will make those activities easier? Answering these five questions will give you an idea of what you want to create, how you'll develop it, and what problems you need to overcome to make it a reality.

Prewriting

While writing, writers often go through a process called prewriting, where they play with ideas and words. Using visual and verbal strategies, prewriting enables writers to capture ideas in a flow of language. One useful tool is the concept map, which helps writers to connect ideas. A storyboard is another tool that lets writers illustrate major parts of a text.

Prewriting is a fundamental step in the Invent Help process. This step in writing can help writers develop their initial idea or spark their passion for a topic. Several techniques can be used during the invention process, from brainstorming to free writing.

Brainstorming

Brainstorming an idea involves a team of people coming up with different ideas. Typically, there are three steps in a brainstorm session: idea capture, discussion, and critique. There are strategies to make the brainstorming process easier. Following these strategies will help the team successfully move through all three stages. For instance, if you have a brainstorming session, make sure that the team is given time to prepare its ideas ahead of time.

Brainstorming is best conducted in small groups. Small groups of four or fewer people work best, but larger groups are not necessary. One of the major mistakes that most groups make is going about brainstorming the wrong way. Start by presenting a specific question to the group. This will help the team avoid groupthink and let each individual's contributions shine through.

Documenting

It is essential to document an invention idea in the right manner. Inventors should gather references, including photographs of working prototypes. They should make sure that their InventHelp is novel, not obvious, and must provide value to the end user. In addition to this, they should take the time to document the inspirations that led them to their idea.

The documentation of an invention idea must include everything from how the idea originated to its purpose. It should also include how to manufacture it and market it. It should also be signed by a trustworthy witness.

Patenting

If you have an idea for an invention, it is important to know the basics of patenting it. First, you need to define what the invention is, the procedure or process it involves, and any other relevant information. You should also consider the material and appearance of the invention. It is also important to create keywords for the invention and think of synonyms for them. You can use these keywords to find potential patents for your invention.

The next step is to determine who owns the patent. This could either be you as an individual or your company. If you are an employee, you may be able to assign the rights of your invention to your employer. If you have a co-worker who worked on the idea, he or she should be listed on the patent application.

Marketing

Many inventors start with an idea of the market they want to target. For instance, a video game is likely to appeal to a market of pre-teens, while a tool belt would likely be popular with adults. Market research can help you find subtle differences in the market, such as whether women are more interested in tool belts than men.

Once you have an idea, write a sell sheet. A sell sheet is basically a one-page overview of your idea, designed to lure potential buyers. A great example of a product would be a product with special features. Then, research past inventions to gain insight into the target market. Once you've done your research, choose a focus group of potential buyers. You can hire college students to give their opinions, or you can hire a marketing company to conduct focus groups for you.
