It appears to be an age-old question should women wear sweatpants or shorts while exercising. And in fairness there is a debate for both. 

 

The importance of exercise cannot be understated it keeps us healthy and enhances our mood, so it is only right we are comfortable while we work out.

 

So today let me put an argument to you for working out in a very specific type of sweat pant.

 

Why should I work out in sweatpants?

Ok so let me convince you and the sweat pant in question I am talking about is cropped sweatpants

 

You should work out in cropped sweatpants because they:

 

  • Protect your skin 
  • Help to burn calories 
  • Control moisture 
  • Allow for easy movement
  • Keep you warm 

 

Admitted the bullet points above are probably not enough to convince to switch your shorts for cropped sweatpants yet but allow me to explain each point in more detail.

 

Protect your skin

This point is more relevant when you are exercising outside and who doesn’t love getting their exercise in outside you can feel the sun on your skin and the breeze on your face. But with working out outside you are also at risk of sunburn from the sun and at the mercy of whatever creepy crawlies happen to be around when you are. 

 

We have all been exercising when mosquitos are around, and it is far from present however if you choose to go for cropped sweatpants your legs will be protected from those pesky little critters. 

 

Help burn calories 

Bold claim I know but bear with me. You burn more calories when your body temperature is higher. So, as you exercise in cropped sweatpants your body temperature will be higher than it would be if you were working out in shorts. 

 

As a result of your body temperature being higher you will burn more calories granted not a huge amount but when trying to lose weight every little helps.

 

Control Moisture 

Regardless of what you wear to work out in at one point you will sweat, and you should as you are exercising that’s the point, isn’t it?

 

Now if you are working out in shorts then you could end up perspiring quite heavily and if your work out is ground based this can lead to a pile of sweat building up around you on the ground. 

 

However, if you opt to work out in cropped sweatpants as the name suggests they will assist in soaking up this additional moisture leaving you to work out worry free. 

 

Easy Movement 

When carrying out any kind of exercise it is very important that we are able to move freely and unrestricted. 

 

Cropped sweatpants allow us to be covered and protected without restricting our movement in anyway meaning we can carry out our preferred exercise without any risk of injury. 

 

Keep you warm 

Exercising unfortunately isn’t only something we should be doing in the summer it is something we should be doing year-round. And if we are doing it year-round then that means that in the winter it will be cold. However, if you are working out in cropped sweatpants then not only can you exercise as you have done the rest of the year you will also be warm doing so. 

 

Summary 

In my opinion I cannot find or think of any reason why someone would not want to work out in cropped sweatpants. Yes, it does come down to personal preference and there will always be sone people that prefer shorts to pants and that’s fine but when it comes to working out in cropped sweatpants there isn’t really a downside. 

 

You can exercise as you normally do but with all the benefits I mentioned above. In my personal opinion I find it more convenient and comfortable to work out in sweat pant but they do have to be the right ones. 

 

To find a good pair of cropped sweatpants I would suggest dedicating sometime to searching for them on the internet there are countless sites out there showing the best kinds for women to exercise in and even a few videos on YouTube. 

 

You can take my word for it if you decide to work out in cropped sweatpants and give it a try for at least 2 weeks you will never go back to shorts as you will have no reason to. They will give you all the freedom you experience with shorts but with added protection and more warmth.
